Remarkable changes in Agricultural systems have occurred in Africa and majority of farmers are encouraged to apply chemical fertilizers to maintain the level of yield. The agricultural chemicals cause degradation of water and soil environment.

Sustainable agriculture is act of farming using principles of ecology, the study of relationships between organisms and their environment as well as farming techniques that protect the environment, public health, human communities, and animal welfare. We design, and train farmers and organization in sustainable agriculture practices.  The practices involve production of food and fiber materials in harmony or without compromising the environment. Sustainable agriculture consists of three main factors of natural environment, economic profitability and social equity as in figure. Although agricultural systems depending on agricultural chemicals may increase food and fiber production in the short period, it causes environmental problems.
